Amanda Brugel

(February 27th of 2010 to Toronto ON) Pointe Claire is a quiet community located on that part of the island of Montreal known as"the West Island. It is the West Island, to those not familiar with it, is a large region that runs from Lachine to the west. Amanda Brugel was born there and her time was not long in the city. Brugel was raised in Courtice near Oshawa Ontario. She aspired to be a professional dancer, but because of a huge growth spurt she outgrew every dance partner she met. In an article published in the Toronto Star she admitted In heels I'm 6 feet 1 inch. As I grew older than my male partners I stopped. There are many dancers who make the move to acting. In the case of the Brugel family, it was their drama teacher who nudged her to go in this direction. The teacher who suggested she go after a role in the annual school production. The school's production was a success and she was selected to play the principal role of Anne of Green Gables after she auditioned for. It was the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship led her to York University, where she was a theatre student and earned a Bachelors of Fine Arts in 2000. The career of Brugel spans more than 20 years and she has been in over 60 productions that have screened on large screens and on smaller ones. The most well-known role she played was the one of Rita (pictured below) in the television show The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel appeared only on rare moments in the very first season of The Handmaid's Tale. She was the sole Canadian participant.
